To be like the happy ad people

To be like the happy ad people
This project explored themes of capitalism, money, pretending, hoping that owning more things will make you happy. One day as I walked around in my shopping center, I paid attention to all the people in the ads around me. Almost all of them are portraying some magical place, overplaying happiness, glamour, and achievement after achieving a certain goal or owning a certain thing. Who is really that happy? And who has ever been happy from getting those things? Marketing and advertising have been going by this guideline with everything that they do, trying to convince people that their one product will get them closer to reaching ultimate joy. And oftentimes, people really fall for it. Think about it, how many of those models trying so hard to sell their happy smile are actually miserable, depressed, lost, trapped? Is there a way to make authentic advertising? Something that will deeply resonate with someone, rather than always feeling like a distant state of mind never to be reached... While I am still working out what this project means for me and how I want it to resonate with, it was time to start setting the frame for it.
